Since the beginning of garage rock, the northwest sound, grunge, or whatever anyone calls it, The Sonics set the precedence and the pace, and the sound that gave to every musician and band that followed the right to take rock to the edge
Here Are the Sonics was recorded in Seattle, Washington late 1964 and released early 1965 to raves. This established the Sonics as one of the most progressive and popular rock bands in the Northwest. Originally released as a replacement for the original B side of The Witch the Sonics original Psycho became another brutal musical attack on the establishment and had to be played on all radio, again reinforcing the fact the Sonics were not going away.
The classic The Sonics Boom LP recorded in late 1965 and released in 1966 was the final Sonics album recordings on the Etiquette label. Both albums feature the most daring and dynamic rock music ever put to 2 track tape. The Sonics Boom simple black and white album cover is one of the most recognizable work of LP art in the world.

Former Doves frontman Jimi Goodwin will release his debut solo album 'Odludek' in March 2014. To celebrate he is doing a handful of UK dates including an intimate date at Think Tank?
Goodwin will release the album, which was self-produced with Dan Austin (Doves, Pixies), on Heavenly on March 24th.
Speaking about the album, Goodwin says: "I wanted to make this mad mixtape… the kind you'd pass back and forth with your mates; eclectic as fuck. That’s the way we’ve all discovered music over the years isn’t it? We join our own dots to make it all make sense."
He continues: "As I got into making the record, it felt like I was proving something to myself, making a point that I could do all this on my own. You know - I can play bass, I can play guitar, I can orchestrate. As the methods changed, the original concept stayed intact. It’s me, powering through ideas, kapow kapow, no pause for breath. It's not trying to be wilfully eclectic; it’s just a reflection of how I schizophrenically devour music."
Excited to announce that Frankie & the Heartstrings will play Riverside on the 23rd May. Two albums in & a third on the way on there Pop Recs imprint the band head back on the road for some intimate live dates.

The Orb head back North for a Full AV show at our all new Riverside Venue
It started with a Joke, audacious dub science and some cassettes of New York radio's revolutionary master mixes of the late 70s-early 80s. Killing Joke marked Dr Alex Paterson's entry into the rock 'n' roll world, as both roadie and encore vocalist haranguing his way through the Stooges' 'No Fun' & ' Bodies' while golden age dub reggae and New York sound shifters such as Shep Pettibone and Tony Humphries fuelled his desire to take sound to realms only previously glimpsed in dreams
And The Orb turned in to a formidable live experience, blitzing through album tracks and soon-to-be classics like 'Towers Of Dub', taking venues into a senses-blasting new orbit. This was still the spirit of punk rock, meaning rules were broken, there was attitude under the ambience and healthy regard for upsetting the nearest applecart, giving it the large salad atop a spangled middle finger.
Today there live show is as forward thinking as ever & this show is not to be missed
